Friends, this is a super quick post. More like a service announcement for people who dream about decorating when they should be doing other things…
You must stop what you are doing and ORDER THIS BOOK.
{click on the book image or click here to purchase}
It is practical. It is edited to perfection. It tells you exactly what you need to get the most luxurious and beautiful home in a realistic, down-to-earth way.
I think I am going to read a snippet from it every day. For real.
Because it is that good.
And that meaty. With USEABLE information that you will be so glad you have at your fingertips.
You may know that I adore Lauren Liess for her decorating style, but she also has a natural instructional manner about her that is truly helpful to others. If you don’t follow along with her blog, you must do so!
One of my favorite things about this amazing guide is how it is broken down. The first section of the book covers the fundamentals of design. The second section covers the intangibles – what makes for a really GOOD design… and I am LOVING this section of the book for how it puts vocabulary to the unexplainable. The final section breaks down decorating by room.
But my favorite page might just be page 266. When you get the book and read it, {and you know me and how I feel about these things}, you will know why I adore Lauren, and why I will sing her praises from the rooftops. Because, she gets it.
Okay.
Now run, click, and be glad you did!!!

Hey girl – after reading this post and checking out some reviews of this book on Amazon, I felt compelled to share something with you. I can’t tell you how much your post {awhile back} about “prime real estate” {I think that is what you call it!} in your home has changed my life. We also live in an older home, and absolutely love it despite it’s many obstacles and limitations. We are FOREVER making changes and switching things around in order to make the best use of our limited space for a family of 6, and I am reminded often of how I need to use the “prime real estate” in my home for the things that are truly used on a daily basis and store away those things in far away places that are rarely needed. It is so simple – and yet I believe very overlooked. It could possibly be the reason why families constantly feel like they are running out of space and need to move to bigger houses, and then turn around years later and want to downsize! Anyway, I just had to share that with you because that bit of advice has helped me deal with my space limitations tremendously. And so, I think of you often! Also, we are slowly using our oils more and more regularly … 🙂 Much love!
I totally agree with this post. I am usually VERY hesitant to buy design books, and when I do, I feel a bit let down as the content is nothing I can’t get online. Lauren’s book is FANTASTIC! I have been devouring it, going back to sections and just sitting and thinking about stuff she says. Best home purchase of the year…
