This week, I am posting about the “chores” that I have that I am yearning to elevate into “rituals.” Yesterday, I posted about how beauty and organization can transform our menial tasks into enjoyable daily rituals that make up the moments of our day.
The space that I have in mind to work with is here, in the snug space to the left of the sink:
this will not be an immediate project, as we have other things on the docket. But as I always declare, it is essential to have a vision!
So, that gives me the perfect excuse to dream…
….about a rattan vanity desk {pottery barn},
with an antique workhorse of a draftsman stool tucked beneath it {wisteria},
stacked with deliciously fluffy white towels, of course.
maybe stack a few fluffy towels and a powder pouf in here {pottery barn},
…and then, a gorgeous chrome magnifying mirror, of course {restoration hardware}.
a stunning tray {williams sonoma home},
and beautiful containers for cotton poufs and chunky soap {pottery barn}.
All of the items listed are simply a springboard. While they are beautiful, they are also full retail. Now that I have a vision for my space, I can hit sales, flea markets, outlets, and craigslist with purpose. Then, I must be patient, and wait and look for the right item at the right price.
The thrill of the hunt.
As far as makeup organization, I find it most helpful to keep my most-often-used makeup and brushes in a sturdy, portable makeup bag that stays in the linen closet. I don’t think my space would stay beautiful for long if I tried to display my makeup on the surface or in a nearby basket
… and I want it to stay beautiful, so that I am enticed to sit and enjoy the daily ritual of getting ready for the day.
Off to daydream about the rest of this week’s posts on turning chores into beautiful rituals.

Beautifying our bath is high on my list. A make-up area is a great idea–but no magnifying mirrors for me, thanks.;0
Very pretty! I think you would like my post. *Clean and Clutter Free*. I also linked it to Traci a few weeks ago. 🙂
Great and pretty ideas! We also have so many projects on the go, and not nearly enough time. Our main bathroom needs a mini makeover in the near future (think my very bad attempt at clouds on the ceiling) and the photo of the tiered storage just gave me a great idea. Thanks for the inspiration!
This blog site has some extremely useful stuff on it. Thanks for sharing it with me.
