Here is a super-easy project that anyone could do in a day. Start with a solid wood TV tray. These trays are inexpensive and easy to find at nearly any large stock store. I believe I got ours at Target, years ago.
Take your little TV tray, lightly sand, coat with a primer and then paint to coat with black enamel paint. Be sure to use the enamel style paint. It will give the tray a thicker, finished, furniture look.
Not bad for a tv tray, right?

Nice tray (and no, I don't say that to all the girls).
