ditto :: a fall inspired office
Monday, September 24, 2012 by {darlene}

A Fall inspired office is just what the doctor ordered! Our leaves are turning to blaze. Our skies are brilliant blue. Our clouds are puffy. And still… I am inspired to get some work done! Especially since I spent all of last week in the desert {more of that to come!}.

Cue this gorgeous office below by Jay Jeffers.

{The list below will break down for you many of the decorating concepts that are employed in this great space. As with all of our dittos, let’s study the DETAILS of what makes this space SO AMAZING, so that we can learn how to add more beauty to our own homes!!! And, as always, I look forward to hearing from you and finding out what you would ditto, too. So, be thinking!}

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:

1.    THICK MUDDY GRAY GREEN GLOSSY WALLS.

How does one even begin to describe these walls? They are stunning, and yet, so complex. Are they gray? Are they green? Are they blue? Are they muddy? The fact that this color is so impossible to pin down is exactly what makes it so beautiful. It is complex, warm and cool. So therefore, it would work with all sorts of colors. When my clients are picking paint colors, I always recommend that they go with a little bit of “muddiness” in the color. It is that complexity that makes it versatile. Ditto!

2.   A FABULOUSLY STYLED BOOKSHELF.

You know how I feel about well-styled bookshelves! This one is gloriously filled with books that are arranged sculpturally. Ditto!!

3.  ORANGE MODERN ART.

I love good art. I love orange. And I LOVE the contrast of blue/grays and orange. So orange modern art on a blue/gray wall? An all-around WIN! Perfect for a fall inspired office!

4.  DARKS, BROWNS, ORANGES.

Browns and Oranges. In a range of tones and shades and woods. Welcome Fall!!! Ditto.

5.  HERRINGBONE RUG.

Gentlemanly and lovely all at the same time, I adore this herringbone-ish rug. I also love the cream base that it gives to this otherwise-dark space.

6.  A LIGHT FIXTURE THAT DEMANDS ATTENTION

Yes, lighting is expensive. BUT, cheap lighting can RUIN all of the work you put into your room. If you can’t go pricey, then get creative, or hold out for sales. Or when you see a great fixture, take note of it and don’t forget it! Just look at how this light fixture commands the room and raises the entire design to a different level. Ditto-worthy indeed.

7. STUNNING FURNITURE CHOICES.

Those chairs! Beautiful shapes, amazing materials. And I love a classy desk with beautiful wood! Since these pieces take center stage in an office, be sure you love them.

8. ADD A TOUCH OF FUN TO YOUR DESK.

Lucite skulls anyone? Skull on a stick? Let’s not take ourselves to seriously when we sit down to get things done!! Ditto!

* * * * * * *

SO much goodness.

Love anything I did not mention? or…

WHAT WOULD YOU DITTO {STEAL} FROM THIS SPACE, 1-8? SOMETHING ELSE?

I LOVE HEARING YOUR THOUGHTS!

Surely you have shopped OKL before?  If not, oh, you will LOVE it! If so, did you see the Barclay Butera sale???

Prepare yourself to drool. These 10 ditto worthy bathrooms are truly stunners.

Now, I am not claiming that any of us can actually have these exact bathrooms in our home, so beneath each photo, you will find a list of  one or more ways that I think the design inspiration/idea can be ditto-ed in your home or my home.

1. Be sure you add a vanity to your bathroom – it is relaxing, practical and lovely!

2. You cannot have too many mirrors; they liven up a small space.

3. Use a punch color in your bathroom.

4. Add flowers. A tip you can use TODAY to add gorgeousness to your bath.

{design by Steven Gambrel}

1. Branch outside of Carrera marble and get bold with your marble choices. I love the dark grain in this marble!

2. Recover a lovely bench to add to a vanity, or just place in the bathroom.

3. Think about storage and combine the need for mirrors with built-in medicine cabinets.

So, I would love to know: which one of these ditto worthy bathrooms is your favorite? What would you ditto from these spaces?
