Bébé bébé bébé Nursery

Bebe bebe bebe nursery series

Thursdays is the day for the Bébé bébé bébé Nursery series here at FHD: featuring Girl Nurseries designed by some of the most gifted designers and creative decor bloggers from around the web. {Need some boy nursery awesomeness? Check out Bebe’s brother series: Bijou and Boheme‘s Baby Baby Baby Nursery.}

Today, I am so thrilled to welcome Joni of Lay Baby Lay to FHD, and even more thrilled that the Queen, and I mean QUEEN, of Nursery Designs is dreaming up something wonderful for my baby girl! {Such a lucky little baby girl! Completely spoiled by good design already!} If you have not yet dreamed away for hours over at Lay Baby Lay, checking out Joni’s amazing designs, prepare to OOH and AHH over the cutest dang nursery designs you ever did see {total perk: they are organized by boy AND girl AND neutral}.

* * *

I’m so thrilled Darlene is expecting a girl!  She is a striking person of beauty, grace and character, and it is so fitting for her to have a little girl to bestow those qualities upon.  As a mama of two little darlings myself, I know the joy it is to have a bit of pink in one’s life!  When I first met Darlene, I recall her talking about her love for fuchsia and mentioning the possibility of having a pink sofa; and in her inspiration for her nursery she is focusing on red and fuchsia, so I went in that direction.  This is a room for a little lady, with bright, happy hues of lipstick red and hot pink and polished details that will grow along with her.
A Little Ladylike:

Joni’s sweet words about me and my daughter made me cry. Thank you, SWEET girl!!

That design board!!! Of course, you know I was thrilled to see the fuchsia and red color scheme when I first set eyes on this gorgeous design board! So full of life and fun and girlish joy. And, can we just discuss that rug for a moment? TOTAL SWOON-NESS GRACIOUS! I mean really. It has red, and fuchsia AND orange? Be still my beating heart. I am head over heels for every detail in this room, but my faves are the rug, the contrast piping chair, the gold lamps, and the fuchsia dresser! Yes, please.

I love love love this design, Joni! Thank you so much for sharing your Nursery Genius with us!!

I really hope you are loving this series as much as I am! I am so blown away by the talent of my friends, and SO thankful to share cyberspace with their brilliance!

Be sure to leave some comment love for Joni, sharing your thoughts on this lovely and ladylike space!

Project library :: a hot mess
Tuesday, June 4, 2013 by {darlene}

The nursery/formerly known as the school room is empty.

The library shelves are ALMOST built.  I am so excited. The organizing and sorting possibilities will be endless! And that makes a pregnant woman sing for joy.

hot mess

And then there is my foyer.

Well, it is a hot mess.

When we welcome someone into Fieldstone Hill, this is what they get to see! Homeschool/baby/bookshelf explosion:

hot mess

and I am glad to report that it does not bother me a bit! As long as I hear hammering downstairs and I am sorting away upstairs, this nesting woman is happy. After YEARS of pulling together operas and musicals, this lady knows the truth:

“4 weeks you rehearse and rehearse.
3 weeks and it couldn’t be worse.
1 week! Will it ever be right?
Then, out of the hat, it’s that big first night!”

Besides this pile has a crib box in it, and new changing pads, changing covers, crib sheets, etc. thanks to my Mother-in-law, who basically gave me an entire baby shower over Memorial Day weekend. Think we are excited around here??

13 weeks people.

13 weeks left…

{planning on a nursery update post this week!!}

What is a hot mess in your home?? DO SHARE!!

Take heart! Hot Mess = Progress!!

{Consultation UPDATE}:

I am super excited to report that I finally got my testimonial page in order. Somewhat! I hope you will check it out. Although Design Boards are still on hold as I prepare for baby, my clients are loving my Skype consultation service! Could you use a fresh designers vision to kick start a home transformation?

Monday, June 3, 2013 by {darlene}

Welcome to the June {ditto} DIY challenge, where your favorite bloggers are doing inspired design challenges every month {and you too!}

Once each month, a group of very different bloggers are attempting to recreate, for their own homes, a project or design element inspired by a haute couture design – selected by moi. This gives us all simple, bite-sized ways to add fine design elements into our own homes – a month at a time! Next thing we know, all of our homes will be filled with gorgeousness!! {For more details on what {ditto}DIY is all about, check out this post.}

{ditto} DIY: Inspired Design for the Rest of Us

This month, we were challenged to Go for the GOLD in our homes, and this was our inspiration photograph:

{Art and design by Samantha Reitmayer Sano of Style/Swoon.}

The {ditto} DIY Challenge:

Gild something, or paint it gold! Then use it in a lovely display.

I cannot wait to see all of the awesome GOLD {ditto}DIY projects from this great group of bloggers! Be sure to click around and see what they have dreamed up.

AND!! I can’t wait to see what YOU ALL have created. BE SURE TO LINK UP BELOW!!!!!

* * *

But first! Now that you have done all of that hard work, adding some gorgeous gold into your home, here are some designer tips for getting the most out of the golden glow!

Designer Tips

 incorporating gold into your home:

1. Not feeling brave about gold? Have bad memories of brass overload? Just remember, this is not your grandmother’s gold. Each time a trend comes back around, it comes with a modern kick. So start small and fun, like putting a gold nugget chunk on your coffee table, or adding a gilded serving spoon to your table scape, or framing your next piece of art in gold.

2. Have mostly silver in your home? Never fear!! Mixed metals is a beautiful look. Take a deep breath, get brave, and take heart that mixed metals can be nothing short of GORGEOUS!!!

3. If you don’t love gold: that’s OKAY!! Gold is enduring, and I would not really call it a trend… nor would Cleopatra. But, still, that does not change the fact that, if you don’t love it, you don’t love it. And I would NEVER encourage anyone to decorate with something they don’t love. But, it doesn’t hurt to TRY… as long as it is with something low-commitment. Like a {ditto} DIY project, for example!

{for more on discovering your own personal decorating style, and decorating with what you love, click here}

4. Love gold? ME TOO!!!! I think it is simply GORGEOUS! Don’t be shy!! Start adding bold dashes of beautiful gold! Gild a chair. Or paint the back of a bookcase. Or try out one of these awesome gold projects!

Next month (on Monday, July 1st) we are inviting you to join the NEXT {ditto} DIY challenge!:

Announcing the July {ditto} DIY challenge:

July ditto diy

This month’s Inspiration, selected by our interior designer:

A framed pair of Ikat fabric art. Image via Neiman Marcus.

The {ditto} DIY Challenge:

Frame some Fabric!

Designer Thoughts:

“Finding quality art to add to our homes can be a huge – and expensive – design challenge. I love the idea of using beautiful fabrics in gorgeous frames to add stunning and creative art. No more bare walls! Also, this is a great way to finally display that fabric heirloom instead of keeping it crammed in the corner of your closet. I especially recommend framing large fabric pieces, or doing a display “en masse” of several cuts of the same fabric. This gives you maximum impact and “large groupings of art” is definitely a trick from interior designers. Bring it into your own home! “

* * *

Start thinking of gorgeous ways you can frame fabric and create instant art in your home.

And then be ready to join in on the Link-up fun JULY 1st! Your project will be linked up to each and every awesome blogger on the list!

And now comes the fun part for THIS month’s challenge!!

It is time to link up your own fabulous Go for the GOLD projects and join the {ditto} DIY party! It wouldn’t be much of a party if you didn’t stick around, so be sure to check out as many projects as you can! The link up is for everyone, so if you don’t have a blog, you can still join us over at our Facebook Page and link your project there!

Bébé bébé bébé Nursery: Sadie and Stella

Bébé bébé bébé Nursery

Bebe bebe bebe nursery series

Thursdays is the day for the Bébé bébé bébé Nursery series here at FHD: featuring Girl Nurseries designed by some of the most gifted designers and creative decor bloggers from around the web. {Need some boy nursery awesomeness? Check out Bijou and Boheme‘s Baby Baby Baby Nursery series.}

Today’s designer is the very talented, and VERY awesome, Lindsay of Sadie and Stella. She is cute, adorable, stylish, and did I mention cute?? Everything she types makes me giggle. Everything she creates makes me swoon. If you don’t keep up with her, you really must!

* * *

I am Lindsay from Sadie + Stella and words cannot express how jazzed I was when Darlene first told me she was expecting, and that second she wanted me to come up with a design board for her little bebe. Can you imagine my response? Ummmm, hello. Yes. The queen of design boards is asking me to come up with a concept for her little one. I knew this space had to be romantic, girly and eclectic. I hope I did her proud.

Nursery de Bebe:

There is pink done right and pink done wrong. Do you know what I mean?? And this is OH, so, RIGHT!!! Splashes of soft pink are fully balanced by sophistication, gold, and geometrics. Sweet, but NOTHING is sticky sweet. That wallpaper brings out my inner-happy-little-girl. Chandy’s can do no wrong. And I am LOVING that rug! Baby girl is NOT getting that crib – it would be totally unfair for her bed to be way more beautiful than mine.

I just love this room!!! Thank you SO MUCH, Lindsay,  for sharing your decorating genius with us!

I can already see that this series is going to put me into a decorating crisis mode. TOO MUCH GOODNESS… what to do?? and I am NOT going to keep having babies, okay people?

Be sure to leave some comment love for Lindsay, sharing your thoughts on this beautifully designed space!
