Inspired To:

build a coffee center

INSPIRED TO ::

  • design a gorgeous coffee center, of course!
  • always plan for the ‘stuff of life’ in my design.
  • make rituals beautiful.
  • think about the details when working on cabinet design.
  • remember that my house is here to serve me; I am not here to serve my house.
  • enjoy that one cup of morning coffee slowly.
  • note the beautiful display of the top coffee center, and note the more realistic display of the lower coffee center. Both are inviting, beautiful and practical.
  • Preserve and guard Saturday mornings with my life!
  • go greige!
  • go refill my cup…

So. What does this picture inspire you to do/feel/create/think…… I would love to know!

What are you Inspired To?

Do you have a coffee center? If so, tell us: Do you love it? Anything you wish you would have designed differently??

Bébé bébé bébé Nursery :: The Hunted Interior

Bébé bébé bébé Nursery

Bebe bebe bebe nursery series

Thursdays is the day for the Bébé bébé bébé Nursery series here at FHD: featuring Girl Nurseries designed by some of the most gifted designers and creative decor bloggers from around the web. {Need some boy nursery awesomeness? Check out Bebe’s brother series: Bijou and Boheme‘s Baby Baby Baby Nursery.}

Today, the SUPER UBER talented Kristin of The Hunted Interior is sharing a fabulous design board. Really. This girl is the queen of DIY’s worth doing. So many DIY’s are just… not. BUT KRISTIN??? This girl does not compromise good design for affordable options. At all! You must hop over to check out her tutorials. I am still speechless over her Ikea coffee table redo – check it! And, Without further ado, welcome Kristin over to FHD!

* * *

I was beyond thrilled when Darlene asked me to join in with all of the Bebe Designing as nursery designs are one of my favorite spaces to do for clients.  Especially since there will be no more nurseries in our future!  After getting swept up in all the baby items for my own daughter’s nursery, the one thing I learned was to invest in pieces that will transition as she grows.  If not with her, then throughout your home.  Dressers, mirrors, side tables can always move into other spaces once she obtains her own design opinion.
For this dream nursery I was immediately inspired by the idea of a grand over-scaled floral mural wrapping around the room.  Of course I had to mix in some prints, textures, a fabulous chandelier & a little glam.  What girl doesn’t need a little glam?!

Oh, Kristin. You do not disappoint! I am loving each and every detail of this space. Green and purple: such a FAB color scheme for a girl nursery. And I love how you skillfully balance the bold color with lots of breathing-room white. The flower art, the purple lamps, the CRIB {!!}, the side table… so many awesome details! And that precious deer!? LOVE!

Thank you, Kristin, of the Hunted Interior, for hanging with us here and bathing us in design beauty. SUCH AWESOMENESS!

I really hope you are loving this series as much as I am! Click around and check out the other awesome spaces – and be inspired! Whether you are decorating a nursery or a living room, these designs will surely inspire you as far as color, amazing pieces, high-and-low mixing, and some gutsy glam!!

And y’all! Please be sure to leave some comment love here for Kristin, sharing your thoughts on this floral and glam goodness!

Images of :: lake house
Tuesday, June 18, 2013 by {darlene}

This time of year, I dream of the lake house.

My in-laws have a small cabin on a small lake in a small town. Where we tube, and water ski, and sit on swings on screened porches, and eat and rest and smell fresh air. We laugh and enjoy nothingness and are happy that our cell phones don’t really work well.

The kids are in their element, and hours are spent skipping stones, blowing bubbles, and paddling water.

When I sit on that porch, weights and years come off of my shoulders.

And when I fly around the lake on that tube, I laugh and laugh and feel like I am flying. I cannot stop smiling. I have pure fun. And so does my hubby as he tries to get me to fly off.

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of living in a stone house. I pinch myself when we pull into the drive of Fieldstone Hill. But, God willing, my next home {probably a long way off} will be a lake house.

In the meantime, when the stress gets high, I start dreaming of lake living:

Do you have a place where stress melts away? Do tell!!

ditto-worthy gentleman’s spaces {no man caves here}
Monday, June 17, 2013 by {darlene}

Happy {ditto} Monday!_peacock

In honor of all the amazing Dads out there, and all the amazing men, for that matter, it is high time I share some seriously amazing, ditto-worthy gentleman’s spaces.

No man caves here, folks. You see, to be honest, I cannot stand that term. A cave? Well, I don’t happen to have a man who hides out in a cave. My man is an ever-present, ever-supportive, fully-integrated part of our special family. And I know so many other awesome men like him.

They don’t deserve caves. No. They deserve fine design, and a sophisticated place that respects their role in the home.

Below are 6 of my favorite gentleman’s spaces. And they are OH SO ditto-worthy.

man caves

{via nuevo estilo}

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Dark Rug with geometrics
  2. Glass table with gold trim
  3. Tufted shiny leather chairs paired with a velvet emerald chesterfield sofa.
  4. Huge, colorful art
  5. Greek key elaborate crown moulding

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Hello, gray grasscloth
  2. Well framed, bold, geometric art
  3. A sophisticated office space
  4. fresh flowers
  5. Plenty of bookshelves
  6. Good, and beautiful, task lighting

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Bold stripes
  2. There’s that velvet and glossy tufted leather combo again. Love it.
  3. Crisp lines
  4. A brass helmet lamp, of course.
  5. That stunning coffee table. And an antique dresser in the mix.

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Relaxed nautical stripes against that chesterfield!
  2. Dark lampshades.
  3. Dress up trite barn siding in glossy gray.
  4. Drapes and men can mix. Tailored and crisp and soft gray.
  5. A touch of fun with that pillow.

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Gray pinstripe suit… on the walls!
  2. Paint it Black.
  3. Beautiful antique dresser.
  4. Soft throw rug with dark geometric pattern.
  5. Crisp symmetry.

Ditto-Worthy for your man:

  1. Gentleman’s spaces don’t have to be dark. Simple creams and light silvers stay manly with crisp lines and black accents.
  2. Glass and lucite.
  3. Repeating square shapes.
  4. Bold art.

You can certainly see repeating themes and design tricks in these handsome spaces.

What would you ditto?

Have you considered adding a touch of masculine to your home?

And how do you feel about Man Caves {would LOVE some men to comment on this one!!}?
