Bébé bébé bébé Nursery

Bebe bebe bebe nursery series

{preggers update: In the final countdown. 4 weeks left! Guess I’d better be ready!??!! Working on the finishing touches to baby girl’s nursery. A big reveal is coming soon!}

Thursdays is the day for the Bébé bébé bébé Nursery series here at FHD: featuring Girl Nurseries designed by some of the most gifted designers and creative decor bloggers from around the web. {Need some boy nursery awesomeness? Check out Bijou and Boheme‘s Baby Baby Baby Nursery series.}

Today’s talented designer is my friend Angela of The Painted House {tphblog.com}. I want to gush to you all about how wonderful she is…. but truly, I am afraid you will just think that they are words. The truth is, I think Angela is one of the dearest, most talented, most lovely women I have ever met in all of my life. She is a first class artist, first class designer, first class style-maker, and first class person. Simply radiating beauty inside and out. I feel so very blessed to call her friend. And – oh friend – when I read her sweet words below, she definitely got the preggo tears a-flowin.’ You MUST hustle over to Angela’s blog, and follow her creative genius as she is about to redo an entire house in true Angela fashion. And I am pretty darn sure you do NOT want to miss it.

* * *

The first time I met Darlene was at an Atlanta hotel as she passed through town. I was waiting in the lobby when the elevator doors parted like curtains on a stage to reveal a gorgeous svelte woman with dark bombshell hair and a killer smile. It was no coincidence that this girl had stage presence, drama, star quality. I would soon find out that her life journey includes performance–as she told me in a voice as sweet as honey. As I wonder about the gifts God is instilling within the daughter he is giving Darlene and her husband, I can’t help but think she will love the stage like her mama. Because when the red velvet curtains part to reveal a whimsical painted set of woodland creatures and a rosy sky of stars and glowing celestial orbs and the first notes of music rise, it is hard not to be captivated by the fantasy of the theater. And that fortunate little girl will alight upon that magic every night as she drifts off to sleep to her mama’s soothing lullabies.

Are you meaning to tell me that this little baby girl is going to be a part of her momma? That we may even share some of the same passions? That I am going to have a baby GIRL????!!! {oh, there go the preggo tears again.}

See. This is what I love about design. It captures the heart of things. It can be deep and poignant and full of meaning and life. Not just a bunch of pretty stuff in a room. Angela SO gets that. And this nursery completely reflects that. AND, it just so happens to be filled to the brim with pretty pretty things. Like, come on… that STUNNING wallpaper mural? And DO NOT MISS those sconces. They would totally rock any room! That star rug!! And…I happen to be a complete and total sucker for dramatic drapes. And, it is just like a sweet and awesome friend to rock my pink and red obsession for me!

I am having so much fun with this series. What fun to be planning a nursery in a time when the choices are endless, gorgeous and flexible!  My girl’s design board may be done already, but the GORGEOUS ideas just keep coming! Thank you to all you amazing gals for such great designs.

Be sure to leave some comment love here for Angela, sharing your thoughts on this beautifully designed space!

What elements from this design would you use in your own home??

As you can see, there is still much to be done design wise. Pictures on the walls, books on the shelves, school stuff in the cubbies, add our school table and chairs… you know, Interior Decorate the joint!! haha.

But, the good news for this very preggo gal {36 weeks, people!} is that the contractors are all out and the organizing is in full swing. In fact, school has already started and we have 18 days in already. I am taking a big fat break from homeschooling once baby gets here {that is when the REAL learning, crash course style, will begin. True dat.}.

Okay, y’all. See you back here tomorrow for a very special Bebe Bebe Bebe Nursery with one of my bestest, most beloved friends sharing her mad skillz.

August {ditto} DIY link party – a pretty trash can ?
Monday, August 5, 2013 by {darlene}

{ditto} DIY: Inspired Design For the Rest of Us

Welcome to the August {ditto} DIY challenge! {Last chance to link up this summer!}

I hope you loved last month’s challenge! There were some beautiful projects that I hope you had a chance to hop around and check out. SUCH creative  ways to incorporate gorgeous fabric art into your home!

Today kicks off the grand link-up for August {found at the end of this post}. It will also be our last link-up for a bit. Do you have your trash-into-treasure pretty trash can ready?

For those of you who are just encountering {ditto} DIY for the first time, here is what it is all about:

Once a month all summer long, ten very different bloggers have been hosting this challenge to recreate in our own homes a project or design element inspired by a haute couture design. The idea is to inspire everyone to incorporate fine design elements into your own home in a way that fits your own style.

We have been so thrilled to have so many of you join our challenge each month! Between the craziness of Fall and the Holidays, and not one, but TWO babies on their way for our little blogger posse {my little girl is soon to arrive. 4 more weeks!!, and Lauren is having a baby TODAY!}, we decided {ditto} DIY would be a perfect tradition for us to resurrect each summer. And with the way time flies, we are going to be back there before you know it!

{ditto} DIY: Inspired Design for the Rest of Us

Once again, our ten hosting bloggers include:

Darlene @ Fieldstone Hill Design
Ruth @ Living Well Spending Less
Cindy @ Skip to My Lou
Jen @ Balancing Beauty & Bedlam
Edie @ Life in Grace
Rachel @ Surviving the Stores
Karin @ Trophy Mom Diaries
Lauren @ I am THAT Lady
Kelly @ View Along The Way
Melissa @ The Inspired Room

This month’s theme is decorative and pretty trash cans, and this was our inspiration photograph:

The {ditto} DIY Challenge:

Add a classy pattern to create a pretty trash can, turning a necessary room element into a lovely design detail.

* * *

I cannot wait to see all of the awesome pretty trash can {ditto}DIY projects from this great group of bloggers! Be sure to click around and see what they have dreamed up.

AND!! I can’t wait to see what YOU ALL have created. BE SURE TO LINK UP BELOW!!!!!

* * *

But first! Now that you have created a something out of nothing {!!} and made the mundane more lovely, here are some designer tips for paying attention to the little details that make a room extraordinary!

Designer Tips

 it’s all about the details &

adding bold pattern in everyday objects:

 1. On the subject of a pretty trash can: one great option is to hide your trash can, of course. But, have you considered your trash can another opportunity to add color or texture to your space? If you are wanting to add another design element to the room, this simple everyday object can truly be elevated. Of course, adding fun and bold and classic pattern is a great way to accomplish that.

2. Other pretty ideas: Try wrapping your trash can in twine for a textural look. Try using a flowerpot or a wicker basket for a trash can. Add some shine with stainless. Add some color with paint. And, like the images in our main inspiration {ditto} DIY pic, definitely consider adding geometric pattern.

3. The great thing about bold patterns is that they can take the mundane and add vibrancy to an object, and then to a room. Trying adding a geometric pattern to a bowl or a tray, and then adding that to a simple table-scape to see how quickly things liven up. Adding geometric, bold pattern pillows to a neutral space is a quick way to have some fun in a classic or neutral room. Tossing patterned napkins on your table adds instant energy.

4. A picture says a thousand words. Especially when it comes to convincing you that a trash can really does matter! Enjoy the collection of images below {find all of the sources via Inspiration Offices and Workrooms}, and be inspired to make the extra effort to add a pretty trash can:

And now comes the fun part! Back to this month’s challenge, and our link-up!

It is time to link up your own fabulous trash can projects and join our LAST {ditto} DIY party of the summer! It wouldn’t be much of a party if you didn’t stick around, so be sure to check out as many projects as you can!  The link up is for everyone, so if you don’t have a blog, you can still join us over at our Facebook Page and link your project there!

Inspired to :: swing a little

Inspired To:

swing a little

swing

{amazing image taken by leah zawadzki}

swing

{image via Just Lovely via Remodelista. Come follow my obsessive Pinboards}

INSPIRED TO ::

  • swing a little. or swing a lot!
  • allow time for fun.
  • don’t take design so seriously. Make room for playfulness.
  • don’t spend so much time on the computer. GET OUTSIDE. swing a little.
  • enjoy those boys on their swings. Listen to their happy chatter.
  • watch the birds in the trees while swinging.
  • install a swing in the boys’ loft-like bedroom.
  • teach the boys how to leap off of a swing.
  • try to touch the clouds with my toes.
  • be alive. live the thing.

So. What does this picture inspire you to do/feel/create/think…… I would love to know!

What are you Inspired To?

When was the last time you were on a swing? When was the last time you threw your head back and laughed? Is it time to swing a little? Is it time to add a bit of fun/swing to your home and your interiors?
