Bébé bébé bébé Nursery

Bebe bebe bebe nursery series

Thursdays is the day for the Bébé bébé bébé Nursery series here at FHD: featuring Girl Nurseries designed by some of the most gifted designers and creative decor bloggers from around the web. {Need some boy nursery awesomeness? Check out Bijou and Boheme‘s Baby Baby Baby Nursery series.}

Today’s designer is my friend Destiny from A Place for Us. She is a brilliant DIY-er with a VERY fresh style! If you have not met her in blogland, you really must! She is a sweetheart! I especially love her eye for classic simplicity. Do you recognize this project of hers that has gone viral? You will love her design projects and her sweet spirit! And I am in love with this eDesign that she created for my sweet Georgia Luisa!

As a lover of all things pretty and creative, designing my children’s nurseries was one the of most exciting things about being pregnant. I must admit when it comes to the overall design, I’m a traditionalist. Blue for boys and pink for girls:0) Of course there’s a spectrum of color choices when it comes down to it. With two boys and a little girl of my own I’ve had the best of both worlds! With this nursery you will see both colors used but catered towards the little princess.

When Darlene asked my to be apart of her inspiring BeBe series I was all in. But when I saw how SWEET her little baby girl was and how much fun and love they were having together, I knew I wanted to create a space that reflected that love. So this is a mother/daughter nursery designed with a perspective of heritage, love and hand me downs. Whether it’s an old dresser from your great grandmothers bedroom or a sweet stuffed animal that you held when you were three. Hand me downs always bring in so much meaning to any room. Mixing that with new and fresh items gives the room a familiar feel.

Thank you, Destiny!! SUCH a pretty nursery. My absolute favorite thing about this space is the meaning behind it. But, of course, there are some serious to-die-for goodies here! I am IN.LOVE. with the “let them be little” poster – cause I wholeheartedly agree!! AND how about the pale pink, pale silver, pale gold color scheme? Just PERFECT for a sweet little girl room! And I love a lot of white touches in a nursery…. something about the purity of a little baby! Thanks again! SO SO pretty!!!

I am having so much fun with this series. You will definitely want to check out all of the amazing designs to be endlessly inspired. trying to post… {plus baby pics!}
Tuesday, September 24, 2013 by {darlene}

I have been trying to do a post for about 8 days now, and I just can’t manage it!! I am putting other things first, and I know that is right where I am supposed to be right now. Thank you to all of you who have been cheerleading me, and telling me to do just that!! Just know I am thinking about all of my awesome cyber friends! And missing you!

I have been posting an embarrassing amount of Instagram pics of my beautiful baby girl. She is SUCH a good baby. I am telling you! I have never quite had a baby like this! She is a total bean/snuggle bug, and I am soaking in it.

A large amount of my energy has been going into trying to balance the mobile. My boys are adjusting so well, but there definitely IS an adjustment. It is hard to see them stumble through their emotions as they adjust to our new family arrangement, but they are truly doing so well. And they shower their sister with love…. {with an occasional trouble-maker move mixed in there, I shall not lie}!

All in all, we are feeling such love and doing so well. I am itching to tell you more, about how many prayers have been answered as we welcomed Georgia into our family… and about my own adjustments as a homeschooling/work-at-home/blogger/ interior designer/wife/mom/person … but my eyes are closing as I type this post to be scheduled for tomorrow morning. And it is not even 9 pm, folks.

So, since words fail me, I shall leave you with pictures. That say 1000 words.

maybe even more.

Yeah. We are pretty dang smitten.

And it is official, I adore you all. Or else, I would have never shared my “puffy Dar” pictures with you. True.

xoxo

Today’s designer is the uber and multi talented designer, Jill Sorensen. Where does one begin when describing Jill? Well, she is a very gifted interior designer – just check out her work! AND, she owns an amazing shop, filled with gorgeous furnishings and accessories, which I love to use for my own client resourcing. And finally, she designs her own line of home furnishing accessories that are SO gorgeous, which you can find under “Jill Sorensen” in her shop. I am pretty much head over heels for her cotton carpets and her bedding! And, last but not least, she is gorgeous inside and out. Get to know her better over at her fun, inspiring blog, Live Like You.

First off, congratulations Darlene!! And thank You so much for inviting me do a nursery board! Doing a design for Darlene’s sweet new baby girl, I had an easy starting point…I could do anything.  Since Darlene’s daughter will surely inherit her love of color and spunky fearlessness in interiors I wanted to create something to match. And let’s not forget, nurseries are for moms too – something to cheer you up on one of those sleepless nights!

I’m a big believer in creating kid spaces that encourage imagination, and I also like nurseries that can “grow up” with the child (no expensive redecorating later on). So in this Baby Venus room I added Bamboo wallpaper, fantasy sea life elements and some glam dramatic pieces that can last until her teens. Thank You Darlene for letting me have fun!

Thank you, Jill, for this fun, fantasy-filled nursery. I just LOVE the spunk and imagination it evokes. And, humble girl, you did not point out that the ROCKING carpet in this room is of YOUR design. love love love!!!!!! I really adore the bold black accents in this room – the dresser, the ends of the crib, the wallpaper, and Mr. Zebra. Shells! Tropical accents! And a zebra watching over it all. It is so fanciful. Thank you for sharing this out-of-the box, awesome space!

Favorite Fall Textures {from Melissa of the Inspired Room}
Monday, September 16, 2013 by {darlene}

the Inspired Room’s Favorite Fall Textures

An extra special thank you to my friend Melissa, of the popular blog The Inspired Room, for offering to share a post with all of you… while I sneak in lots of good snuggle time with my new favorite gal. I am so so grateful to her! How can one thank their friends at times like this – the ones who are willing to step right in and immediately bless you??? Thank you so much, Melissa!

If you have not already had the privilege, you will love getting to know Melissa and her great design sensibilities. There is nothing like the joys of turning our hearts toward the warmth of the indoors at Fall time. Do you love Fall decorating? Be sure to join Melissa for her Fall series 31 Days of Fall Nesting.

Favorite Fall Textures

1. Crisp White plus Warm Wood

traditional rustic

Dining Room via BHG

I love the simple beauty of texture and warmth in design, especially during the Fall when I’m in the mood to get cozy and settle in by the fire!

I think a mix of wood with white in a dining room is a beautiful crisp traditional feel that is warm but uncluttered.

2. Natural Fibers and Fabric Layers

Natural fiber rugs, bamboo blinds, layers of fabrics and curtains can bring Fall coziness to a bedroom without too much muss and fuss.

3. Added warmth in the kitchen

grasscloth in the kitchen

New England Home

Kitchens can tend to be full of cold and hard surfaces, but with the addition of grasscloth, wood cutting boards or even rattan baskets, a kitchen will warm right up!

Thank you, Darlene, for inviting me here to share some of my favorite textures for the season! I’m glad you are taking time away to fall madly in love with that beautiful baby girl! Congratulations, what a blessing Georgia is!

My annual 31 Days of Fall Nesting series starts today on The Inspired Room, so I hope you’ll come follow along if you are a Fall lover like me!
