Don’t you just LOVE this “Dreamy Little Girls Bedroom?”

Happy {ditto} Monday! Ditto posts: learn how to ditto a designer room

Today’s ditto | a room I love post features a space designed by the lovely and talented Christine Dovey… a gorgeous Dreamy Little Girls Bedroom. I heart this space so, so much. It is girly perfection. {PS I apologize! Links are not working for me properly today. Head below the images to see a manual link and check out Christine’s fabulousness. Well. Worth. It.}

{Ditto posts demonstrate a great exercise for you as you continue to develop your own personal style: using your own favorite pictures, and making a quick list of what you actually love about the space. If you study what you love about a space, it helps you to bring what you LOVE into your own home!}

Enjoy this stunning space – such a “dreamy little girls bedroom,” and the quick “ditto” list of why I love it.

So. Do you love it?:

WHAT I LOVE {What I would ditto!}:

1. The bold and amazing Nina Campbell Perroquet wallpaper. What an amazing canvas for the space.

2. The contrast of those dark, dark floors! {read about why contrast is KEY in decorating head here: http://www.fieldstonehilldesign.com/2011/08/lessons-in-design-power-of-contrasts.html}

3. The vintage pieces! Or are they new? I LOVE that you can’t tell.

4. The repurposing of the closet space! This works well because the ‘lost’ storage is replaced with a dresser and the sides of the closet are still used. Perfect for a little girl with little clothing. And so dramatic! The dimension it adds to the space makes it a worthy choice!

5. The rich curtain fabric that sets off the dresser space. I love the vertical drama of thick, flowing drapes.

6. A little nook with the perfect settee? Yes please.

7. Unconventional decor pieces for a little girls room really set this room apart. A pink birdcage will certainly become a home for her dolls. And I would not be surprised if her glossy Dalmatian has a name already.

8. Grown up art, with a serious girly influence. I love that Christine used real art in the space, and not children’s art. And yet, everything still feels perfectly diminutive.

9. Fur, fluff, and poof!

10. Each piece is amazing and chosen to perfection, but my favorite is the secretary. Black, gold and cotton candy pink? How much more ditto-able can you get?

DO YOU LOVE IT?? WHAT DO YOU LOVE? WHAT DESIGN ELEMENTS WOULD YOU DITTO IN YOUR OWN HOME? DO TELL!!!!!!

BHG + NYC + FHD
Wednesday, September 17, 2014 by {darlene}

I might just be a weeeeee bit excited…….

BHG + NYC + FHD

today, my handsome husband put me on a train.

We rocked that scene like a Turner Classic Movie. One tear in my eye. And he blew me a kiss after helping me aboard with my luggage.

BHG + NYC + FHD

For the next few days, I will be hanging out in the Big Apple with some of the most wonderful, ingenious, and creative minds in magazine-land and blog-land. And when these two worlds collide, you KNOW that some amazing inspiration is going to be happening.

I hope you will follow along with our adventure this week. Check out instagram and twitter for the hashtag #BHGSTYLE .

Oh, and be sure to compliment me on my outfits. Haha. Any outfit I am wearing is the result of a binge diet, and a postpartum fit of trying on clothes for 2+ hours {Can I still use the word postpartum now that Georgia is one??}.  I nearly fit into my beloved designer jeans, but alas… had to leave them at home. I couldn’t sit down.

I digress.

The main thing I hopped on to say is… I am STINKING EXCITED! And I am READY to be inspired by the amazing editors of Better Homes and Gardens. And I am more than thrilled to meet all of these genius bloggers – new friends and old. And I would be lying if I did not confess with a loud squeal: I am soooooooo excited to meet Nate Berkus {check out some Nate love from last Monday’s ditto}.

See you on Instagram, my dears!!! #BHGSTYLE

xoxo

P.S. Just for fun… leave a comment telling me a brilliantly witty thing you think I should say to Nate Berkus, the Beautiful.

ditto-worthy :: home tour :: Europe in the Sonoran desert

Europe in the Sonoran Desert

Happy {ditto} Monday! Ditto posts: learn how to ditto a designer room

This may be a Sonoran desert home. But the moment I set eyes on it, I thought of time spent in Italy.

I could live here. Without a doubt.

Here are the overarching themes that I find so ditto-worthy:

1. The natural elements everywhere

2. The huge chunks of wood everywhere

3. The fireplaces everywhere

4. The farmhouse simplicity everywhere

5. This place is truly rustic. Not some cheesy-trendy version of rustic. But actual, original rustic.

6. Real art and pottery on the walls.

7. Stunning, show-stopping light fixtures {no wallflowers here}

8. Soft linens to balance all of the rough-hewn materials

9. That pool. My word.

10. Skillful editing leads to uncluttered living

11. I am such a color-girl. But this monotone living really makes texture come alive and rule the day.

What do you think? Which room is your favorite?

What would YOU ditto??

my favorite girls’ accessories evahh!//

I may be just a teensy weensy bit excited about this company. And I may as well have stock there.

Do you see these headbands? And those shoes??? Oh, and my cute daughter???? Well, the shoes and headbands are from the amazing company Gracious May and their sister company Snugars. I heart everything they make…

gracious georgia

so I just about did a backflip when Grace of Gracious May sent Georgia Lu a birthday present!!:

Gracious May Fall shoes for girls

Yes. They are gorgeous. Be looking for uber-model, #georgialu {she has her own hashtag. but her mom made it up.}, sporting these beauties on Instagram. And thank you so much, Gracious May. What a delightfully gracious b-day present – a girl’s favorite shoes!

this awesome concoction//

Try this!!! You will LOVE it. It is my newest guilty pleasure. Plus it has healing benefits, detox effects, and is true aromatherapy. I kinda sorta feel like a spoiled princess when I lounge in this bath:

I use the Lemongrass oil and the Relaxation Massage oil from my affiliate sponsor, Young Living. Their oils are amazing and yummy and I am pretty much addicted, hook-line-and-sinker. Thanks for using my affiliate links! You all are wonderful!

buy real art //

I recently discovered this Brazilian artist and I just LOVE her paintings – especially her florals – and I also love the price tag. I am a huge believer in using real art in your home. There truly is no replacement. But the price can be daunting. So I say: start small, but start REAL. It makes ALL the difference in gorgeous interiors.

this scarf for my girl//

 I have had  my eye on these amazing infinity scarves for toddlers, for quite some time. They are handmade from the Rugged Closet. But, Georgia was a spitter upper, so I had to go with bibs, for sure. The scarves had to wait.  Well, she is probably barely old enough to wear these scarves, but fashion before function, I always say. Or is it #livewithbeauty ? Go getcha some of these pretties for your favorite little toddler. {also, check out her bibs. so cute for boys and girls}

this #masterdesigner moment //

I have to share this pic from my Instagram feed. {Are you Instagrammy? I share tons of daily life pics. Maybe not so glam, but oh, so real. And oh, so good. Especially if you like cute, bald, baby girls}. We had our annual vacation at the lake not long ago. It is one of my favorite places in all the world…. right in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of America. Perfection.

This shot was taken from the dock, the evening that my hubby and I spent a night out at the lake on our own. The sunset was indescribable. This is taken with an iPhone, and no filter. I think I need to paint this. Or Angela needs to paint it:
