It started out rainy.
and like any good Diva, I threw quite the temper tantrum about it, insisting that the “good luck story” was a gigantic lie, created to make brides accept the fact that their wedding day turned out to be ugly.
but the small rain passed, and the purest of blue skies opened upon our day.
I am up way too late to tell you much, and lots of fun celebrating planned for this weekend {lots to do!}, so it is a good thing that pictures tell a thousand words.
of course, there was home-brewed beer, a traditional wedding march behind a bagpiper, a solid chocolate wedding cake, autumn leaves {collected by the bride. the day before}, and – what else – fieldstone. Â Our wedding was somewhere in between farmhouse simplicity and high-gloss glamour; imagine that. The start of it all.

Good Morning Darlene,
My wedding day weather was exactly the same…rain and then the sun came out. I believe the good luck prophecy, as that was 37 years ago!
You were a beautiful bride and couple…enjoy your day.
Happy Anniversary!

Janet, thank you!! 37 years, what a blessing!
What a beautiful wedding, and how lovely you looked! 10/9/99 was supposed to be my wedding day too, but due to some haz-mat problems with the church, we had to go to plan B and move it up 4 months. Still, my husband and I look at Oct. 9th as our “should’ve been” anniversary. Now I’ll know that it’s your anniversary too! Thanks for sharing!
Oh, Janet! Goodness gracious.. I can only imagine what Haz Mat you are talking about!!! Thank you for your sweet words!
Happy Anniversary! Thanks for sharing these beautiuful photos. It does look like an ad campaign–for love, happiness and fun. Wishing you many more and much more. Enjoy your special day.

Hi, there. 🙂
I have no idea how I found your blog…it was a link from a link from a link kind of thing. 😉
I was in the same boat as you…one week later…twelve years ago. (Oct 16, 1999.) One minor difference, mine was not a rainstorm, it was a hurricane.
Yea. True.
Gotta love Miami weather.
And my mom said “don’t get married in August, it’s prime hurricane season.”
So, October it was.
Great. 😉
Happy Anniversary!!!
We both still got married, right? Rain, shine, hail, flood. It’s all good.

The world is brighter because of your decisions to marry and treasure each other. Cherishing is what it’s all about. Have a funderful day and, hey, let the kissing never end.
