Orange and brown has long been one of my favorite color combinations. This combo graces my home and my clothing and my jewelry. It is a down-to-earth, yet bright, combination that constantly reminds me of my favorite season.
I was married on a Fall day. I picked this time of year because of the beauty of the colors, and the crispness in the air. And, it was our fortune that the Pastor forgot to prompt us for our first kiss: we had our first kiss beneath the gloriously changing fall leaves.
{I just noticed for the first time ever how the telephone pole makes a cross above our heads. I am going to be giddy about that for a while.}
I will definitely share more of our wedding pictures with you in the future {we do have an anniversary coming up, after all!}. And at our wedding, the colors of Fall dominated the scene. I have always loved the colors of Fall.
Orange and Brown rise to the top of the list.
Enjoy this feast of a glorious color combination. I can’t wait to hear which one inspires you the most:
This photo makes me feel alive. The smell of crisp Fall leaves defies explanation.
Orange and Brown is smart and dapper combination. Don’t miss that splash of pale-blue contrast behind that tie. Oh, how I would love to see that tie on my handsome man.
This room is exquisite with drama. Orange zebra stripes and glossy orange accessories are center stage with a muddy brown backdrop. However, that dramatic chandelier upstages them all. Now, that is some high-gloss glamour that I could love!
And now for the farmhouse simplicity of orange and brown. Just a simple touch of orange, amidst brown pin-striping, surrounded by cream and symmetry. And oh, those sheets!
For the dramatic color lovers out there, this is a no-messy-roundy way to use orange and brown. Certainly one can’t miss the turquoise stripes on the ceiling. There is that blue contrast again, like on Mr. Handsome, above.
This clutch makes my heart sing. That is all.
and more blue contrast. Doesn’t this photo make you smile? Color can do that, no? Satin tuxedo shorts in brown, and bright orange everywhere else.
You know I am a sucker for gorgeous drapes, and this room calls to me! There is that zebra stripe again.
A more traditional take on orange and brown. I love the easy addition of fresh oranges to add brilliance to the color scheme.
This stunning hallway has a bold color of orange {don’t miss how the light switches are orange too!}, that is framed with blackish-brown edging. The botanical art is stunning in its symmetrical form. Brown is ever present in the leaves, the butterflies, and the natural woods in the stairs and furniture.
Which of these rooms speaks to you the most?
Can you find a way to bring some gorgeous fall colors into your space?
Love them all but the best was your wedding picture! I always wanted a fall wedding but when my husband proposed in August, it wasn’t in the cards. I was NOT waiting a year either. This is gorgeous!
maury, you are too sweet!!! thanks for stopping by 🙂
The throws on the bed in the bedroom and that entryway…beautiful. I’m guessing it’s the same house?
We were married in October…wonderful time of year in Maine! Happy upcoming anniversary to you!
thanks, jennifer! when is your anniversary? ours is the 9th 🙂
16th! 12 years!
Loving the turquoise mixed with the orange and brown…fresh!! It’s taken me a long time to get over my first job at the A&W influencing my putting or not putting those two colors together!! I’m officially over it! Gorgeous 🙂
your comment about A&W made me bust out laughing!!
I love the color orange (and yellow)! All these pictures are great, but my favorite has got to be the orange and turquoise room. I think I have just been inspired to do some painting!
paint away girl!!! so glad I could inspire you on this day!
I LOVE this post – the color combos are gorgeous! AND I LOVE your wedding photo!!! I carried an identical bouquet! :)!

thank you Karena!! It was an amazingly beautiful day, almost 12 years ago!
The fall pictures are lovely, but my favorite picture was the wedding photo and you recognizing the cross in the background. I see crosses all the time and feel blessed that God speaks to me in that way. May the Lord bless you and you family abundantly and have a wonderful anniversary!
oh, sherri! thank you!!
I love the pop of orange. Gorgeous wedding dress too & a kiss in such a pretty setting…just perfect!

Melissah
thanks melissah… why can’t I just wear that wedding dress around the house?? 🙂
Love the wedding pic! That outdoor scene with the trees & road is gorgeous! Something you would see driving through New England leaf peeping 🙂
thanks jessica!
The color orange is growing on me. I couldn’t stand it a few years ago, and now I decorate with it for the fall. I really like all of your pictures.
I am a sucker for orange. I am glad you are giving her a chance {wink!}
Orange and brown, yes, make a fine pair! I just added brown pillows and orange pumpkins to the screen porch today and it makes me happy (also with aqua blue chairs!).
But what I really love is that wedding photo of you two! I want to see more!!!
angela!!!
I had little doubt that you loved this pair, and with aqua!!!
Thank you about our wedding pics. More to come in October, probably on the 7th, right before our anniversary.
I had to have them converted to digital… makes me feel like a dinosaur! ha!
[…] From my files :: orange and brown […]
I am a huge fan of orange, and wear it all the time, but have never been bold enough to work it into my decor. I live in a 1926 home with dark paneling with an orange undertone and loved the orange paint in your hallway photo. I’ve been looking for an Hermes inspired look. Now to find the right shade of orange…. Thank you for the inspirational photo.
