Sometimes living in a house full of men {big men and little men}, I can forget that not everything consists of snips and snails and puppy-dog tails.
And, friends. I am SUCH a girly-girl. How can I abandon my years of frill and dress-up and tutus?
I think that is why I am drawn to this sugar-and-spice-and-everything-nice bedroom. I think you will love it too. There is plenty to ditto in this precious girls’ room. Here is what I would “steal” from this space? I wonder what you would ditto?

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:
- a girly-girl room. In a space for girls, why not go all out? Florals. Canopies. Pinks. Pure Whites. Chandeliers. …dreamy! It truly is sugar, and spice, and everything nice.
- lush fabric canopies. Aren’t these fabulous? These could be done d.i.y. style. There are lots of different kinds of bed canopies, but I love this simple style that does not enclose the bed, but still adds coziness and textured layers. These canopies really add such drama to this space; especially done in twos for double impact.
- monogrammed border coverlets. I lived in the South long enough to fall in love with monograms. A love I cannot shake. These coverlets are classy in so many ways: the classic monogram – of course, as well as the bold pink borders, and the thin but heavy drape to the fabric.
- a closet with a feminine, and French, touch. By leaving the top panels out of these closet doors and replacing them with fabric curtains, the room gains a lovely feminine touch. But what I love most is the texture and depth it adds to the room.
- a desk in a nook. Yes. I am sucker for a good nook {see my nook-love here}. And for a brilliant little office {see my office-love here}. Simply by placing a desk and a grand window tucked next to closets, a cozy and inspiring petite office is created. It is both a beautiful and efficient use of space.
- simple roman shades. I love drapes. But in this room, with cascading bed canopies full of rich fabric, the simple roman shades do just the trick. Roman shades are another great way to incorporate designer fabrics into your space.
- raspberry pink. Love pink? For a slightly more grown up version of powder pink or Barbie pink, why not try the berries.
- florals balanced by contrast. This room is full of flowers. But it is also balanced with the breathing room of plenty of large, white surfaces. Also, the graphic prints on the canopies, bed skirts, and roman shades contrast beautifully with the girly-girl wallpaper. These contrasting touches keep the wallpaper from being “a bit too much.” To read more about great ways to use contrast in design, you would enjoy this “lessons in design” post.
I don’t have middle name and I really want a classic monogram on something, anything!
