This post stems from a seed that was planted in my heart a long time ago; around the beginnings of Fieldstone Hill Design. I hope you will read through it, as I would love to invite you to join me!
I have always loved design, but it is just a small part of my life. I write about it here at Fieldstone Hill; and it is an amazing outlet for me to go on and on about the things I have a passion for… without becoming a bore at a dinner party. And design is a true passion of mine.
But the {darlene} that you meet here each day has higher priorities and callings than solely design; and I only mention them from time to time here on this venue. For me, my dream of interiors and love for creating beauty is not at the absolute top of my life list. Maybe it is the same for you.
I wrote about it a bit here. And listed my priorities of God, loved ones, then life’s work.
I love beautiful design, make no mistake. Yet still, I know who my true loves are. And, I don’t mind telling you that! The longer I live, the more that I realize that success is fleeting, health is temporary, things are just a lie, and time is precious. First things must come first.
Your list may not be the same, and if it is not, I deeply hope you will read this blog and find great delight and inspiration – regularly – in the beautiful design and interiors that are shared here at Fieldstone Hill.
But if it is, I invite you to read the following Design Manifesto, and I invite you – if you are a creator of anything – to declare that you are also a Master Designer:
“I am a Master Designer.
I love Beauty;
I see potential and I want to fill it with beauty.
I aim to create something beautiful that is worthy of joy.
Design is a high calling, one that can improve the lives of others, be a means to foster relationships, and add much joy to my family.
I appreciate fine and lovely things, but they are not my treasures.
I know what is truly important, and
I do not aim to “store up my treasures here on earth.”*
I live to bring glory to God, the Ultimate Master Designer.
He created Beauty.
He created all beautiful things.
And, He created my passion for design, and set that joy in my heart.
Everything that I create,
and have created,
is because I myself was created by a Master.
I am a Master Designer.”
*{verse reference, Matthew 6:19}

Amen and well said!!
A-MEN! 🙂 I’m always trying to find ways to vocalize this on my blog — I have a little bit on my “about” page and I’ve just started a biweekly guest post series where other bloggers can talk about how they find contentment in their home — but I’ve never seen it written out like this, just perfectly!
Add me to your blog roll – I’m going to post about this on Wednesday if it’s okay with you! 🙂 Thanks for the great words!
I would be honored! Thank you so much for helping to spread the word, to encourage others as well!!

Such a beautiful message. I couldn’t agree more!
I love this manifesto, so very, very true! I fear we focus too much in blogland on the latest trends, and decorating and too little on revealing what is truly important. I will be adding the button to my blog:>) Thanks!
So happy to see you here Kathy!! I knew you would love Darlene and her blog.
