It has been a while since I shared a Design Board with all of you!
This Fall has been an exciting time for me. I was very nervous as I faced the school year, knowing that I have a new {and busy} Design business, while I also have the primary responsibility of homeschooling and mothering my children as well.
I am so thankful to have the most wonderful clients, most of them mothers themselves, who encourage me to enjoy my family and my children, and who understand why I have a three week wait for each project. This helps me to give my clients the best quality, and to provide them with a gorgeous but useful and practical plan for their homes, but it allows me to put First things First. And, I have clients who desire to do the same in their own lives. What a blessing!
And I am especially thankful for my wonderful clients who are still on my wait list! Thank you for entrusting me with your projects; I can’t wait to work with you!!
So, back to the board!!
This room has been finished for a bit, but my client’s home was affected by Hurricane Irene , and has had precious little time to look at it herself.
Our goal was to create a creamy and soothing Master Bedroom that had a rich feel, with the addition of soft golds and vibrant blue tones. We used some of her current furnishings, which she plans to repaint in the greige swatches you see on the board.
My client loved this room that was featured in the Hampton Designer Showhouse, by Kate Singer. We used the overall feel of the space as inspiration:
of course, we took the room in its own direction, but I love how we were able to capture that same soft, soothing, resort-like feeling. And, undoubtably, it is for a fraction of the cost!
That is what is so much fun about Design Boards! They can give you a vision for exactly where to take your room, and I do all of my resourcing to cater to my current clients budget.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this room!
Thank you for continuing to encourage me as I keep balancing the dream of Fieldstone Hill Design!
It is so dreamy – and that rug – I want one in every room of our home.
xoxo michele
thank you michele!!! I know, isn’t that rug a show-stopper??!
oh, fantastic! love the blue and golds! they aren’t overwhelming with the neutrals. i could sleep there. 😉
thank you, jennifer!!!!!!!!!!
It looks beautiful, Darlene. I’m sure your client was very happy with it!
thank you so much, lori!!!!!!!
What a beautiful and tasteful room. What attention to detail. It’s stunning- like the lady who created it!(just discovered your blog through The Painted House. I’ll be checking in regularly now.)
goodness gracious, you are kind!!! Thank you for reading Fieldstone Hill. It is so nice to meet you!
I’m happy to say I’m the lucky person Darlene has designed this beautiful bedroom for. This is the third time I am working with Darlene in redoing a space and its always a joy and always a success.
Just to know the paint colors will be perfect and that the furniture will fit properly would be enough for me but this design process offers so much more. Like every detail! And the ability to collaborate.
Its a dream come true to work with a designer who is as talented as Darlene. Not to mention that she is super nice, super patient and a new friend who truly cares about me and all my design issues. I said I was very lucky!!
Thank you for everything Darlene!!
Thank you Dorothy!! I am SO lucky to have YOU for a client!!! I hope that this room blesses your family!
What a gorgeous design board!
Thanks so much for popping by! Your blog is lovely and I’m now happily following you 🙂
Thank you so much, Lisa, for your kind words! And I love your handbags!!
What a beautiful combination. I love the rug too and the jewel tone of that blue is so soothing – gorgeous.
Thank you, Barbara!!!
Such a pretty color combination and I love how you have tied some modern “trends” into the room such as the rug.
I actually think the dark furniture balances out allthe light tones with the ceiling fan. I wonder if some mirrored drawer pulls would work in lightening it up since the inspiration room had the mirrored night stands.
And I so agree that “mothering” comes first…enjoy it while it lasts!
Thank you so much Diane! I loved hearing your thoughts!
I also love the dark furniture and think it would work! I do love the idea of the painted furniture once this room is spread out on the four walls. Your idea of mirrored drawer pulls is so fun!!!
Gorgeous room! I love the two lamps on either side of the bed–so practical, isn’t it? I never seem to get just the light I need with one lamp…need to copy when I get a room that is big enough for a bed side table.
