BSHT: My Favorite Room
I am so thrilled to be participating in the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours: Favorite Room Edition, hosted by the most wonderful, fabulous Lindsay of The White Buffalo Styling Company. I know you will love visiting all of these fave rooms from around the blogosphere.
Isn’t it fun to peek into someone else’s home for a day… even though we know we are seeing each room at it’s finest?? {Yes. I picked up my messes for you, too. Before the pictures were taken. And yes…. there was a gracious-plenty o’ mess}.
If you have just hopped over here from Thislewood Farms, thank you for coming over – and Welcome! I know you loved your visit with KariAnne and her favorite room. Since this may be your first time here at Fieldstone Hill, I thought I would give you a super quick description of what FHD is all about, in case this place rings true for you, and you want to come hang out and be friends.
This fun, momma, interior designer {that’s me} loves to talk “big B” Beauty. If you hang out here, you can expect to learn how to analyze a room like an interior designer, get rid of your decorating paralysis, identify your personal style with guts and confidence, and find inspiration from all of God’s creation so that you can #livewithbeauty in every, single, thing that you do.
Now, onto the fun part of house snooping.
Hands down, my current favorite room is my daughter’s nursery. {my former fave was my bathroom, and my future fave is sure to be our living room} Believe it or not, Georgia’s room is the very FIRST room in my home that I actually designed from beginning to end, using my own design process, and then filling the space with just the items that I adored. You, know. The cobbler’s kids never have shoes.
Maybe it was the “having a girl thing,” or maybe it was that I grew more voluptuous with each day of pregnancy – wink-, but my sweet hubby said YES to nearly every shopping pursuit I had for this room. So, there you have it. A room designed down to the last detail, just the way I wanted. All thanks to my temporarily lovely bust. Is it any wonder that it is my favorite?
Without further ado – because that was a LOT of ado – may I present my Favorite Room in Fieldstone Hill:
{PS for those who have seen pics of this room before, I have included some narrative and some new pictures! PPS for sources, click here}

Georgia Luisa’s Globally Inspired Nursery
///////
Her colors are fuchsia and red. The inspiration was “everything global.” Rich patterns. Gold trimmings. A storied collection.I had the time of my life designing and creating this nursery for my sweet Georgia, who, for a planned third child, has been nothing other than a surprise.
I opted for this gray modern crib…. from Walmart. It’s simplicity does not interfere with the other haute design elements, so why not?:
The mobiles were handcrafted from straws and spray painted gold. Be sure to sign up for email updates so you don’t miss the How-to post!:
The first thing I purchased for Georgia’s room was the needlework art, which is a Peruvian matrimonial tapestry. It was also the first thing I purchased after finding out I was having a girl!!
Yes. The chair is VERY comfy. Perfect for cat naps and snuggles. But I still take her into my bedroom where the ugly padded rocker is hidden in the corner. Our rocking days are quickly ending, and I am feeling rather nostalgic as I write these words… Georgia is nearly one year old.
The fuchsia baskets were a total score from a TJ Maxx hunt one day. They said “made in vietnam” and I was hooked. I love that this room dances around the globe. Peru, Vietnam, Persia, India, Russia… you can find these places in my darling girl’s room.
This dresser belonged to my sister when she was a baby. The crewelwork kitty was made by my momma, and hung in the nurseries of her babies. The dress off to the left belonged to my husband’s sister.
The wall detail-moulding and the crown moulding were added to the room. The crown moulding is actually made of foam. Once installed and painted, it is impossible to tell. The wall color is Clunch, by Farrow and Ball. The trim is a custom, French Ivory from the old Martha Stewart line, from Sherwin Williams.
A Peruvian traditional child’s costume {found on Etsy} is the lone decor on this wall of paneling. I love the intricate detailing, against the simplicity of its background.
This room is so special to me. It has always been that way. There is nothing more precious than pouring your heart out in preparation for one who is so loved. The colors, the textures, the influences … I love them. But it is the heart behind this room that makes your soul feel warm and at peace when you snuggle up to read to this dear little girl.
Thank you for walking through my Favorite Room with me. It is a room that is sure to change, as this sweet one won’t stay little for long.
Thank you SO much to Lindsay for hosting this fun blog hop {be sure to swing over to her blog to see a list of the other BSHT participants and keep up with the rest of the talented bloggers joining this party}.
