FHD’s  “ A Room I Love” series….just a simple hello, from me to you, featuring a Room that I Love, and a quick list of why I love it. Do you love it?:

WHAT I LOVE:

1. a sofa, perfectly set back into a nook between bookshelves. I adore this look… and I would love to sit there!

2. a bold, geometric rug with calm, traditional furnishings

3. that slab o’ marble, round coffee table with brass legs. What a lady.

4. art flanked by lighting, as a focus wall

5. robin’s egg blue bookshelves

6. a capiz shell chandy, that peeks into the photo, adds a touch of not-so-serious-romance to this library

7. big, comfy pillows that play on the blue shelves {those particular pillows are not my fave however}

8. the chinoiserie, tiny table next to the sofa. It is just waiting for my coffee.

9. Velvet on sofas, with feather filled cushions. One of the most sophisticated ways to “do” a sofa.

  • I have a wall almost like this, except that I have a queen size Murphy bed in the middle that folds up into the wall and allows me to use the room as my office when I do not have guests. Love the styling of the bookcases.

  • Any room with books is going to be a room I love. But I especially adore the coziness of that sofa. It is begging me to pick up a book or magazine and sit down in luxury to read. Everything else is a bonus.

  • Darlene I adore this room! The alcove is wonderful with the art flanked by lighting, the comfy sofa (I would cover in a soft grey or violet, just me) to contrast and complement the fabulous rug. Also the Capiz Chandelier!

  • I love the color of the bookshelves and hopefully I can have one built in my gameroom with the same lighting above the couch one day!! Thank you Darlene for your breakdown of the room this helps tremendously.
