Today’s ditto * is a rich room. Not rich, as in pricey, but rich as in drama, deep, layers, and gorgeousness. Yes, sometimes this does equal pricey-ness, but not always! A watchful eye can help us ditto the richness with simple paint and fabric changes.
The space below. this rich room, happens to be one of my favorite interior images of all time. Truth be told, I would ditto every last detail in this room. I adore every corner. That doesn’t happen all that often! Hmmm. Maybe I should have added it to my Signature Style Board??
*{What exactly is a ditto? :: The list below will break down for you many of the decorating concepts that are employed in this great space. As with all of our dittos, let’s study the DETAILS of what makes this space SO AMAZING, so that we can learn how to add more beauty to our own homes!!! And, as always, I look forward to hearing from you and finding out what you would ditto, too. So, be thinking!}

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:
1. VELVET. MADE FROM REAL MATERIALS.
I love velvet. I think the reason for my obsession is because it is rich in dimension. There can be a sheen, and velvet always catches the light in different ways depending on where you look at it. But here’s the thing: You will get 10x the richness is you purchase velvet from REAL materials: Cotton or Silk velvet, as opposed to Rayon Velvet. I suspect the sofa above is a high quality cotton velvet, which is exactly why it looks so rich. Ditto!
2. DEEP NAVY-GREY WALLS.
Yes, indeed. This color is RICH and stunning. Ditto!! Oh, wait! I already did ditto it! {P.S. I have been making huge changes to our living room. Can’t wait to share! For sneak peaks, follow me on instagram}
3. PAINTING ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS TO MATCH THE WALLS.
This is such a simple way to add depth to a space. Find shelving, or moulding, or other architectural additions, and paint them the same rich colors that you used on the wall. This trick is to be used in moderation {just an opinion! rules are meant for breaking sometimes}, but shelves are a good place to start. ditto!
4. A MOODY ANTIQUE OIL PAINTING, FRAMED IN GOLD.
I love a HUGE piece of art. But what is better than huge art? Rich, moody art! And what is better than that? Wrapping it all up in a gold frame. Ditto.
5. WHITE ELEMENTS AMIDST THE DARK.
Yes, richness abounds in this space. Deep colors, saturated fabrics. But the small splashes of pure white allow us to breath. The coral, the collection of milky white pottery, the fur pillow, and even the white legs on the sofa, all give us the breathing room our eyes need as we soak in this rich room. Try spreading bits of white throughout your space – for breathing room.
6. FUR AND HIDE.
Not for everyone, of course, but I am such a fan of furs and hides. The real and faux choices abound these days, at all sorts of price points, so the richness of animal furs is available to all. In this space, the floor has a hide rug {lovely!}, but that white fur pillow {faux? or no? I can’t tell} is the PERFECT addition for this rich room. I really like this one…. in faux fox fur.
7. RICH COMFORT. YOU CAN HAVE BEAUTY AND COMFORT TOO.
Yes. This room might be rich. dramatic. stunning. deep. But it also looks like all the creature comforts have been met. A super comfy place to sit, with pillows to adjust the comfort. An accessible and usable coffee table. Plenty of storage. Warmth underfoot. Ditto!

SO much goodness.
Love anything I did not mention? or…

This is so luxurious looking! I would def ditto the color of the walls and the softness of the sofa (the velvet upholstery & the silk/fur pillows). Plus the gorgeous painting! And yes to the gold frame!
I love this space. It was designed by Ashlina Kaposta, who blogs at The Decorista, and was featured in Adore magazine awhile back.
I’m lovin’ the open storage shelving for dishes & pretty accent pieces. Great when space is scarce. Practical & beautiful at the same time. Ditto!
Oh you nailed it Darlene! So pretty, so lush. I would ditto everything, but especially the wall color combined with that chunky gold frame. Also the crushed velvety sofa. Also the hide rug. I am actually shopping for one for our green room right now! Great post, glad you’re back! xoxo
