Well, today I am off to Haven… leaving on a jet plane! And I really am so excited – possibly even giddy! AND, thank goodness {since my to-do list wraps around my desk}, I have an amazing guest post for you today from Houzz.com. Yep, THAT Houzz. And I am so honored that they are sharing with my fabulous readers today.
I remember my first blogging conference, which was the Allume conference almost 2 years ago. I felt like the new girl in class. But I quickly discovered that NO ONE, no matter how confident, feels perfectly at ease in a room filled with 250 people who are networking and meeting and reacquainting. My hope is to simply connect with new faces and old, and love on my friends. Oh, and learn a ton of stuff of course! If you are there, and you do not come and hug me, I will be one sad designing woman.
Please keep me in your prayers. Specifically: 1. That I do not share my speaker segment with food in my teeth or on my face, and 2. I do not trip in front of large groups of people, and 3. That I don’t forget everything there is to love about interior design as I stare into the faces of savvy bloggy learners.
Okay, I am totally out of here because my to-do list is ticking like a bomb. Does that happen to anyone else??
SO! Anyone up for some fuchsia love? I know I always am. Please give a warm, comment-filled welcome to Becky! Show her some FHD love.

Hello everyone! My name is Becky and I’m a contributor at Houzz, a home design site focused on helping design professionals and homeowners manage the remodeling and decorating process. Thanks so much to Darlene for having me!
Fuchsia: When speaking of using this hot hue, sometimes Zsa Zsa Gabor’s furry high-heeled slippers and Bobby Trendy’s scary designs for Anna Nicole Smith come to mind. Shake those images right out of your head. There are plenty of ways to be sophisticated with splashes of fuchsia around the home that do not involve feather boas. Here’s how to add fuchsia to your decor in practical ways that will get the right kind of attention: admiration for your bold yet impeccable taste! I’ve included small, medium and large-size splashes to help you decide just how much fuchsia is right for you.
A small splash: Start simple; add color to an otherwise neutral palette with a few fuchsia accents. Here, the rug, throw pillows and chair help energize this minimalist design.
A bigger splash: This eclectic living room has a lot going on, but somehow it all works. I have a theory that the fuchsia bergere chairs force my eyes to stop dancing around and just land on them. They balance the crisp black and white stripes on the sofa across the room.
A cannonball-sized splash: This funky cottage bedroom
presented lots of challenges, including old wood paneling and very small proportions. The designer bathed an entire wall in fuchsia and solved the problem of not having enough room for a headboard by applying a headboard decal to the wall. She then went wild with patterns and balanced the rest of the room out with white walls.
Are you ready for fuchsia? If not, dip your toes in with some raspberry hues and work your way up to a hotter pink. I’d love to see how you’re using this brazen shade in your homes!

Thank you so much, Becky! Fuchsia just makes me smile.

Do love how fuchsia brings warmth and energy into a room. Michelle Armas’ “Wise Math” print inspired me to not only buy her print and frame it for our bedroom but also add raspberry and fuchsia in a throw and decorative pillows to an otherwise serene scheme.
Esp love how the black and white striped sofa ground and balance the room above. And that fuchsia chairs, oh my!
yes! I love it with the black and white stripes too!
Thanks for having us, Darlene!
My pleasure! Thank you for the great post!
