My latest Design Board:
My client and I had so much fun creating her living room design {which I shared 2 weeks ago}, and our goal was to create a dining room design that would work for a space that flows together and feels like one… oh, and feels elegant, pure, and a touch “French Country.” This dining room also had to work for young children, use mostly her existing furnishings, and allow for future construction projects, all while looking gorgeous and comfortable. We even took her original living room and dining room, and flipped the two rooms around!
Some of my favorite touches in this room are:
- The silver platters on the wall
- The cozy seating area in the dining room space
- The blend of grays, creams, and browns
- The round dining room table that is not-too-big; perfect for conversation
- The tufted ottoman
As always, I would love to hear your thoughts on my latest design.

Soft and soothing. I immediately picture lighted candles and dinners with great conversation.
Beautiful and serene room! Especially love the chandy, drapes, armoire and silver platters.
Calming, pretty and sophisticated. Gorgeous chandelier!
Only thing missing, my dear, is the chocolate croissant on the table. You wouldn’t believe how fast this vegan would scatter the crumbs, ha!
Always lovely work, Darlene, with a pleasing balance and lots of texture (personal favorites). Love all the plattahs on the wall.
Have never thought of myself as one who would want a space in grey, but lately I’ve been mulling it over as a choice for our house. We moved in the summer into a circa 1920-30’s home, and though it’s got great bones (my in-laws and hubby ripped it back to the studs), the decor is dated. So as I’m imagining my home, I’ve got most rooms figured out. The living room, I’m stuck on that one. But this design board is inspiring me. Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful. I love that color combination.
I adore this design board. I can’t decide what my favorite part is…..it’s all so gorgeous!
Seriously, Darlene… I love your Design/Vision Boards. They put mine to shame. You inspire me, & I love following you on Pinterest.
Love this color palette. So easy on the eyes!
I wanted to tell you that I wrote about your philosophy on identifying one’s style today. Thank you for your writing about that subject….I soak up every word you say! 🙂

I love the soft, elegant feel of this rooms. It’s intimate and inviting. I love the chairs for the seating area. Could you tell me where they are from?
Of course I love it! It is my house. Thank you for all your help! Now working on making it all come together.
Love it. Very nice
