a room I love :: a lacquered living room

It’s Wednesday, so it must be “A room I love” time….just a simple hello, from me to you, featuring a Room that I Love. 


I have been enjoying some Farmhouse Simplicity with this recent post about my dream kitchen, and Monday’s ditto post about a stunningly simple kitchen.

I’d say it’s high time for some High-Gloss Glamour! This should do it:

What I love:

  1. amazing lacquered blue walls using Farrow and Ball’s Hague Blue. dark and bright all at once!
  2. a mix of some of my favorite colors: orange, aqua, peacock, olive green, golds.
  3. chevron wood floors!
  4. a lime green lamp with a blue shade.
  5. velvet! how I love thee!
  6. drapes! how I love thee!
  7. mixing fabrics and texture: silk pillows. velvet upholstery. leather upholstery.
  8. that blue lacquered ceiling beam. love!

    HI, Darlene, your new blog looks beautiful! Congrats, it really looks great. Love that you met Traci & her sis, those 2 are dear girls, love them. So glad you are coming to Haven, we are all so excited about it.

    What program do you use to do your design boards? I really love how they look, so 3D!

  • I love this room, and wish I could express why. Is it the mix of colors and fabrics? That it reminds me of the sea? Don't know. But it is dreamy.

    Thank you for stopping by today! Bang the Drum Slowly might be too much for him, but I would try Lucky: Maris, Mantle and My Best Summer Ever as a read aloud (even if your hubby wanted to read it to him – love it when my guy does that). It really is that good.

  • Michele, I also couldn't explain why I love it. Might be the colors of aqua and olive green and the fabric used. That lime green lamp with a blue shade looks good in our living room.

  • What I love about this room are the Chevron wood floors and the choice of wood furniture. Just look at the craftsmanship in the legs of the chair and table.

  • It’s good that you let sunlight in to the living room. I also like the color of the curtain. The choice of a jewel tone creates a sophisticated atmosphere of luxury in the room.

  • I’ve never seen a room lacquered so well. Not an easy feat to accomplish, decorating a room that is so overall glossy. This room is simply beautiful. Amazing job!
