I had so much fun working with a recent client on her living room. She is fun, fun, fun I tell ya! And she loves color.
Her heart is big, and she loves to throw big parties. She loves big, laughs big {lots of lol’s!}, and has a big love for all things Scandinavian. It’s her heritage. She has a big collection of Rosemaling pottery. Her budget was small, but her willingness to D.I.Y. is huge. I know that her room will develop into a gorgeous space.
Here is the Design Vision that I came up with for her multi-functional, multi-entertaining space:
My client and I got creative with her current furnishings, and had fun with color and patterns to get the most bang for the buck. My favorite things about this space are:
- The bookshelves that flank the fireplace, topped with brass portrait lamps
- The introduction of fun fabrics
- The striped indoor-outdoor rug that adds instant updating and a lot of fun, in a practical way.
- Versatile seating using benches, ottomans, and low-backed chairs that keep a room from crowding.
- The fun, navy-framed poster of Scandinavia
I would love your thoughts on this Design Board!!! Do you see any solutions in this space that you could incorporate into your home?
And before I jump off into the weekend, I wanted to remind all of you that:
the winner of the Free Email Consultation will be announced tomorrow morning before 9EST. {in a VERY short post… Saturday mornings are for snuggling!}
and one more thing!
I was delighted to be featured on some wonderful blogs this week, and had to send my ginormous thanks!
Today I was featured over at one of my most favorit-est blogs ever. I have been following Emily for about 4 years. If you do not read her blog, you must head over there and change that today!!! Click on the banner below to be transported to emily-loveliness:
I was also blessed to participate in and be featured over at The Nester’s blog this week, for her huge and awesome Giveaway Day. If you don’t know the Nester, you will LOVE her for her wit and her practical decorating advice and encouragement:
Last week, one of my newest sisters blogged about Fieldstone Hill. We just decided we were sisters, last weekend at Relevant. I was born to be Southern…. and Traci and her sister Cyndi {love you!!!} and I have all decided that we were separated at birth. Don’t know Traci?? Well, if you love FUN, crazy, gorgeous, wonderful people you must head over there. Thanks for sharing me with your readers, Traci!:
I have also had so many of you sharing the wonderful blog-love as you spread the word about the Master Designer blog roll {like View along the Way, Nethering our Fest, The Empty Nest, Glass House Design, My Shabby Dream, A Commoners Castle and others}. But I was especially delighted when my friend Amy Renae shared it on her blog. Mostly ’cause I just love that girl! She is our family photographer, and has taught me how to better use my camera, AND she is my friend. Whew, Amy, we REALLY need to get together soon! Thank you so much for your blogland love, sweet ladies!
Now, check back tomorrow to see if you’ve won! And I would love to hear your comments about my latest design board. You are the best!
What I love about the space is the color of the couch. It’s unexpected and fun!
Hey girl!
We definitely DO need to get together! I love that we’re up late blogging on a Friday night…steamy, yes?!
I’m loving the grey and ivory print on the wing chairs and that awesome little grey chair posed behind the sofa…I want them!!
Love those chairs! And I need benches in my living room – great idea! Can’t wait to check out some of these blogs you’ve mentioned.
That hanging light fixture adds loads of personality to the space! The painted orange footstool & the BIG unique style map of Scandinavia are my favorite pieces in the room. I’ll be ditto-ing those right off the bat. I am – after all – the proud owner of this soon to be much more beautiful living room. Thank you Darlene!!
